Last holidays, Kuranui student Zoe Thurston entered the 69th annual Hutt Valley Performing Arts Competition, a three day event. She competed in the singing section, in the 14 years and Under 16 age groups.

Zoe sang older-style soprano music in seven classes, singing 8 songs and competing against 12-18 people in each class. Her successes included two 1st placings, a 2nd, two 3rd, a 4th and a 6th.

She won the Chloe Chun Trophy for winning the song in costume, the Maxwell Jarman Trophy for getting the highest amount of points in three particular classes, and the Jill McAlister Trophy for the most memorable song over the three days.

Kuranui College value all their sports coaches; they give up their free time to attend practices and games and help students achieve their goals in their chosen sport.

We also encourage and support Student coaches, assisting them in their coaching and umpiring needs.

Kuranui Sports has a new badge, called “Sports Coach”. This badge acknowledges the contributions of a student who coaches a sports team for our college.

We are pleased to present our very first Sport Coach badges to Emily Jane (coach of the 2nd XI Girls Hockey Team) and Levi Whata (coach of the Junior Boys Basketball team).
