Kuranui College was established in 1960 to meet the needs of secondary students from four local towns: Greytown, Featherston, Carterton and Martinborough. Kuranui translated from Te Reo Maori means “big school”.
With the daily commute to the city no longer seen as a barrier to living in the area, the South Wairarapa is fast becoming a place of choice when relocating from Wellington.
Kuranui College is in an excellent position as the South Wairarapa’s only provider of secondary education and is experiencing a steady rise in enrolments and a shift in student demographics in line with the increase in professionals living in the region.
