Kuranui College’s commitment to International Students
Kuranui College has agreed to observe and be bound by the Code of Practice of the Pastoral Care of International Students published by the Ministry of Education, New Zealand. Copies of the Code are available on request from Kuranui College or from the New Zealand Ministry of Education website at www.minedu.govt.nz.
Most students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand unless they are:
- A resident or citizen of Australia or
- A national of the United Kingdom in New Zealand, or
- The holder of a temporary permit that is valid for two years or more.
If you do not belong to one of these special categories and you receive medical treatment during your visit, you will be liable for the full costs of that treatment. Before being accepted into Kuranui College you must have insurance that will cover the cost of medical treatment in New Zealand for the duration of your stay in New Zealand. We also strongly recommend that you obtain insurance to cover your travel to and from New Zealand.
- New Zealand’s most experienced and trusted provider of International Student Travel Insurance
- A NZ Student Plan designed to protect the Student and their family when the unexpected happens
- A NZ Student Plan policy that exceeds the MOE’s Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students
- A dedicated Claims Office with bilingual staff, some of whom were once international students themselves
Full details of visa and permit requirements, advice on rights to employment in New Zealand while studying, and reporting requirements are available through New Zealand Immigration Service, and can be viewed on their website at www.immigration.govt.nz.
Fees Protection Policy
The school is required to ensure that all students’ fees are protected in the event that the school is unable to continue to offer tuition to International Students or in the event that a student is required to return home or is transferred to another institution.
All students attending Kuranui College are required to take insurance with Unicare which guarantees under Section B Additional Expenses, Section 4 1 (d) cover for students due to “the unforeseen insolvency, regulatory closure or withdrawal of accreditation of any education provider”. The policy also provides an extensive travel and medical cover.
The information collected by the College during the enrolment process and during the period in which the student is enrolled at the College is intended for use in connection with the education and well-being of the student and may be used by any of the staff of the College or consultant to the College in connection with that purpose. You have right of access to correction of the personal information collected by the College.
This contract shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New Zealand.
