Kuranui College Junior students celebrated the end of the school year with a Junior Prizegiving and Graduation. An annual tradition, the event celebrates student achievement throughout Years 9 and 10.

12 students graduated with silver and 15 with gold honours during 2014. Prizes were awarded to:

  • Amberleigh Rose (ANZAC Day Writing Competition)
  • Maya Templer (Dawn Wylie Cup for Junior Oratory)
  • Cailean Tearle (Year 10 Speech Award)
  • Maya Templar (New Era Star)
  • Jessica Fryer (Palliser Lifecare Trophy for Junior Community Service)
  • Brad Burt & Nicki-Marie Campbell (Overall Junior Endeavour Award).

This year the House Cup went to Ruamahanga and was presented to Brock Loader and Maya Templer.

The top graduating student in Year 9 was Isaac Brown and in Year 10 Azalea Lewis-Milne.

Harvey Morison was awarded the Aorangi Cup for first in Year 9 and Charlotte Penman the Carterton Lions Trophy for first in Year 10.

Junior Leaders for 2015 are: Samson Dell (Deputy Head Boy), Danielle Turton (Deputy Head Girl), Alex Southey (Head Boy) and Olivia Edwards (Head Girl).

Head of the Junior College, Gina Smith, was farewelled with an emotional haka lead by current and past pupils of the school. Ms Smith takes up the position of Principal at Featherston School in the new year and will be replaced by Head of Science Vicki Wish.

Friday 30 January Staff Administration Day

Monday 2 February Year 10/11/12/13 students attend

Tuesday 3 February Year 9 and Year 13 students attend

Wednesday 4 February Full College attends

Friday 6 February Waitangi Day (Holiday)
